Today, the Srebrenik City Council reaffirmed its commitment to addressing youth issues by adopting the Draft Youth Strategy with an action plan for 2024-2028. This step positions the City of Srebrenik among local self-government units that prioritize youth welfare, recognize their needs, and develop policies and programs aimed at improving their position within the community.
The Youth Strategy reflects the City of Srebrenik’s commitment to fostering a supportive community for young people. It serves as a foundational document guiding efforts to create an environment where young individuals can thrive and achieve their full potential. The strategy adopts a systematic approach, addressing various youth needs across key areas. Through detailed action plans, it aims to enhance institutional mechanisms that enable young people to exercise their rights.
The new programs aim to improve conditions in employment, education, social care, healthcare, security, culture, and sports for young people. Among other goals, these programs aim to improve conditions in both formal and informal education, improve the competitiveness of young people, facilitate their access to the labor market, and improve the social protection system so that it can meet their needs and foster a sense of social security among youth.
Action plan measures and activities promote youth organizing and will provide young people with additional opportunities for participation, volunteering, and activism. These measures aim to increase young people’s participation in improving cultural content, developing youth projects, implementing preventive health care programs, and providing information for youth. This is intended to amplify the voices of young people and improve their status in the community.
The Draft Youth Strategy is the outcome of collaboration between the Institute for Youth Development KULT, the City of Srebrenik’s Department for War Veterans, Disabled Persons, and Social Issues, and the coordinating body and working groups. Each stakeholder contributed expertise in various areas throughout the drafting process of the youth strategy.
The starting point for the development of the Youth Strategy was a comprehensive survey that informed the Analysis of the position and needs of young people in the City of Srebrenik.
The city of Srebrenik views its young people as catalysts for change and a source of new ideas. It recognizes their needs, prioritizes youth welfare, and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for its youth. The Institute for Youth Development KULT will continue our collaboration with the City of Srebrenik so we can work together to support and develop young people and youth organizations.
We invite young people and all interested parties to participate in the public hearing and submit their comments and suggestions to the Youth Officer of the City of Srebrenik, Nihad Mehmedović, at nihad.drustvene@gmail.com.
