City of Doboj Starts Work on New Youth Policy as Part of Ongoing Commitment to Supporting Young People

The City of Doboj is demonstrating its commitment to improving the lives of youth through the ongoing development of local youth policies. As a key strategic document, youth policy provides a clear and realistic framework for creating an environment that nurtures young people’s potential and fosters their growth.

The Institute for Youth Development KULT will assist the City of Doboj in enhancing systemic youth care, empowering and supporting young people to reach their full potential.

An initial meeting was held today, March 25th, with representatives of the city administration to discuss the direction of future efforts and define the tasks. The meeting was also an opportunity to learn about the activities and programs the City offers to young people. The City’s current Youth Policy expires at the end of 2025.

The first step in developing a youth policy for the City of Doboj is conducting a survey on the position and needs of young people, which will be carried out by the Institute. The survey, which will involve 383 young people, will provide valuable insights into the position and needs of youth in Doboj.

The needs of young people identified through this survey will inform the development of the youth policy and shape future actions aimed at supporting youth. The results of the survey will inform the development of strategic programs and activities targeting the identified needs and problems of young people in this community, with the ultimate goal of creating new opportunities for young people in this community.

An equally important step is the establishment of a coordination body and working groups for the development of youth policy. With expertise spanning education, employment, social care, security, health, art, culture, sports, youth organizing, activism, and environmental care, these groups will provide a comprehensive perspective on these issues from the viewpoint of young people, ensuring the application of best practices in addressing identified needs.

The Institute is supporting the City of Doboj through the project “Designing, Developing and Adopting Youth Policies”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network of youth centers for animation, development and training of Republika Srpska (M.O.C.A.R.T.) and the Association of Secondary School Students in BiH.
