Bugojno on the Path to a Youth Strategy!

The first meeting of the coordination body and working groups tasked with developing a youth strategy for the Municipality of Bugojno was held at the municipal offices.  The participants were introduced to the entire process of drafting this strategic document, which aims to identify the needs and challenges facing young people and, based on those insights, develop measures and activities to improve their position in the community.

The coordination body and its members will continue to share information and set goals to complete the process. During the kickoff meeting, working group members received detailed instructions and learned more about the strategy development process.  What’s particularly important is that young people themselves have a seat at the table, with representatives included in the working groups, where they can directly contribute to a document designed to address their priorities.

The youth strategy will focus on areas relevant to youth, such as employment, entrepreneurship, formal and non-formal education, social care, health (including mental health and preventive care), culture and sports, youth activism and mobility, and youth safety.

Alongside the strategy, an action plan will be developed to outline concrete steps and initiatives that decision-makers can take to strengthen young people’s position in the job market, improve access to non-formal education, enhance healthcare services, and ensure a safer environment for youth across the municipality.

By starting the process of developing a youth strategy, the Municipality of Bugojno is once again demonstrating its commitment to improving the lives of its young citizens.

The youth strategy is a document developed by government institutions. The FBiH Law on Youth requires all levels of government in the FBiH to have youth strategies.

The Bugojno municipality is supported by the Institute through the project “Designing, Developing and Adopting Youth Policies”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network of youth centers for animation, development and training of Republika Srpska (M.O.C.A.R.T.) and the Association of Secondary School Students in BiH.
