Bright Colors, Positive Energy, and Young Voices: #JOSUVIJEKSAMTU in Banjaluka

Creative August and the #JOSUVIJEKSAMTU campaign brought together the Institute for Youth Development KULT and the “Zdravo da ste” Community Center for another successful collaboration.

Yesterday, Banjaluka was a hotspot of youthful energy, creativity and positivity. Youth once again showed their power to change their communities while sharing experiences with peers and making sure their voices are heard!

Outside the “Zdravo da ste” Community Center, young people painted a wall that now catches everyone’s eye with its bright colors and powerful messages.

This creative piece of art resulted from young people expressing themselves, channeling their energy, and creating something hopeful and joyful for their community.

We also had honest conversations with young people and youth workers about the daily challenges they face and the opportunities available to them in their community.

When we talked about their dreams, goals, and obstacles, young people were clear about what would make them want to stay in their city: better schools and healthcare, less corruption, fair chance at employment, safer streets, and reliable public transport.

These conversations confirmed just how important it is to listen to young people when we’re trying to build youth-friendly communities.

Young people’s creativity, opinions and ideas can play a part in shaping their future. We need to pay attention to what they’re telling us.

We thank the “Zdravo da ste” Community Center for making #JOŠUVIJEKSAMTU part of Creative August, and all the young people who took part, shared their experiences, and brightened up their community yesterday.

This was one of many Creative August activities aimed at encouraging young people to stay active, creative, and involved in building the kind of community they want to live in.

See you again soon, and don’t forget – you hold the future in your hands!
