A New Youth Strategy: Vogošća Invests in the Future of its Young People

For the fourth time, the Municipality of Vogošća is launching the process of developing a Youth Strategy, this time for 2026–2031, to create a safe and supportive environment where young people can realise their full potential and actively contribute to their community.

The first meeting of the Coordination Body and working groups tasked with drafting the new strategic document was recently held in Vogošća.  The working groups are composed of experts from various fields who will address key issues affecting youth, including health and social care, safety, education, employment, youth activism, culture, and sports. Members of the working groups expressed their eagerness to contribute their knowledge and experience to developing a high-quality strategy for youth and welcomed the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to improving the position of young people.

The youth strategy aims to lay the foundations for better education, increased employment opportunities, a safer and healthier environment, and more substantial support for youth activism, culture, and sports. These efforts not only improve the quality of life for young people but also strengthen social cohesion, foster local community development, and promote youth participation in decision-making processes. The first working session served as an opportunity to familiarize members with the strategy development process, its goals, expected outcomes, and the tasks that the working groups will carry out in the coming months. One of the key tasks for the Coordination Body and the working groups is to analyze the current position of young people based on available data. Participants were introduced to the methodological framework for drafting the strategy and were given an overview of the legal obligations of public authorities toward young people.

These activities are part of the project “Designing, Developing and Adopting Youth Policies”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network of youth centers for animation, development and training of Republika Srpska (M.O.C.A.R.T.) and the Association of Secondary School Students in BiH.

Through its continued efforts to improve the situation of young people in the community, the Municipality of Vogošća is sending a clear message: it is committed to creating better conditions for young people to stay, thrive, and lead fulfilling lives in their community.
