The final module of the training Learn, Think and Act! for young political leaders was completed. The training was held from October 24 to 28, 2018 in Sarajevo. Participants from nine political parties learned about the political system in BiH, how to navigate it, how to develop a political image, and the use of negotiation and advocacy skills in politics.
Young political leaders had a chance to sit in the BiH Parliament benches for a day and talk to politicians from various political parties about their experiences and topics relevant to their future work.
“During the training, we were looking for ways to present our ideas and policies to relevant institutions, and we learned how to find solutions for youth when it’s our turn to sit in the Parliament. As young political leaders, we are responsible for improving the position of youth in BiH.” – said Belmin Zukan, a participant.
The final module was attended by H.E. Anders Hagelberg, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in BiH, who pointed out that youth must be given opportunities to become more active in BiH politics.
The training was attended by 26 young politicians from 9 different political parties, who learned new skills and worked on building their capacities to be able to prioritize youth issues in political parties’ programs/agendas, by properly navigating the political system in BiH and taking into account the challenges of economic and social development.
During the training, the participants learned about human rights, gender equality and democratic processes for improving the position of youth by developing clear strategies and managing successful advocacy campaigns.
The goal of the training is to motivate young politicians to be actively lobby the government to solve some of the issues faced by youth in their local communities and to be an example to youth and politicians by showing the importance of political participation and lobbying.
The first two modules were held in Neum and Banja Luka.
