In life-long learning, there are three types of complementary forms of education; formal, non-formal and informal education. In our society non-formal education is still not sifficuently valued or recognised, although it enables us to become part of a society willing to advocate for individual and social progress. In order to emphasise the need for life-long learning, in 1999 UNESCO started the Week of Life-long Learning initiative, which is organised every year, September 24-30, in numerous countries.

Faced with a plethora of different products it is hard to choose the best one. The Institute for Youth Development KULT recognised the importance of the B&H home-made products fair, organised by the Kupujmo i koristimo doma?e association. During the fair, the Institute took the opportunity to present its Learn, Think, Act! UMiD training course to all who were interested. The Volunteer Diary was also presented, which is a booklet containing information on all activities an individual must take part in to obtain a certificate validating their knowledge and skills related to the youth sector and volunteer activities. The Diary appeals to youth who want to take advantage of the possibility to keep a record of different activities they engage in.

If you are wondering how to recognise a domestic product, the answer is simple. All B&H products have a 387 bar code. By buying domestic products we boost the economy and financial stability of our country. We chose the best. Buy and use domestic products!

Youth leaders of the UMiD Alumni network, in response to an internal call of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, implemented a regional civil initiative. On October 19, 2013, the project team visited youth leaders in Zenica and a regional civil initiative called OFF/ON activism. By organising a raining for youth on the topic of Social media and youth activism, led by Darko Brkan and Mirnes Zuki?, and including youth from three local communities: Visoko, Ĺ˝ep?e and Zenica.

Representatives of the Institute for Youth Development visited the central offices of Pro Credit Bank d.d. Sarajevo. During the visit we discussed a possible future cooperation. As part of the initiative Recognising UMiD as training for active youth participation, we have planned to offer youth the possibility of tapping into the potential of the economic sector in BiH; therefore, our wish to cooperate with Pro Credit is less than surprising. For the past two years they have actively been working on implementing the Young Bankers program which enables youth to acquire skills necessary for working in a bank. An additional benefit of this program are the given employment opportunities. An identical program is being implemented in other countries where Pro Credit is present, as a way of employing new staff without using conventional methods such as job ads.
