The Institute for Youth Development KULT supported the realization of local civic initiatives in 12 local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.


Contracts on awarding funds were signed with organizations that will be conducting the activities of building and reconstructing playgrounds, decorating parks and organizing cultural and sports activities in local communities, at the Institute on July 19, 2016, and all for the purpose of additionally engaging youth in local communities and persuading them in their opportunities for inclusion in social trends.


Contracts were signed with the following associations: “Bosansko selo” from Srebrenik, the Youth Council of Stari Grad Municipality from Sarajevo, “Youth Resource Center” from Tuzla, “INPUT” from Zenica, “Youth Volunteers” from Visoko, “OKPIS” from Jablanica, “EKO MLADI” from Busova?a, “MB Live” from Doboj Istok, “Youth Association” from Kneževo, the Youth Council of the City of Mostar, “Green Council” from Sarajevo and the “Youth Association” from Bužim.

The support to the realization of the local civic initiatives is being realized as a part of the “UMiD Online” project, implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT, and the residents of these 12 local BiH communities will also have an opportunity to introduce themselves with the concept of the training and acquiring new knowledge and skills.


As emphasized by the representatives of the associations with whom the contracts were signed, this form of support is important to them because the awarded funds will aid them significantly in improving the conditions at their local communities.


All the activities planned under the initiative will be realized by October 2016.

Public Call


For delivering proposals of local civic initiatives for


youth associations and associations focusing on youth in BiH


The Institute for Youth Development KULT is issuing a Public Call for delivering proposals of civic initiatives (LCIs), exclusively for youth associations and associations focusing on youth, registered in accordance with the Youth Law, i.e. the Law on Youth Organizing of RS. The details of public call can be seen below.


A civic initiative is an action or activity of citizens directed towards improving the state in the local community and in the society in which they live. Civic activities can include individual citizens or groups and all for the purpose of indicating to concrete problems and resolving the problems in their residential community.


The Institute for Youth Development KULT supported over 2,000 youth in BiH in their common initiatives for improving the position of youth in the society. In the last 6 years the Institute awarded over 1,200,000 BAM in grants to NGOs. It is the evidence of social awareness and readiness of youth to be the instigators of positive changes in their community.


The Aim of this Public Call


To recognize and resolve an existing problem in a local community.


Public Call application criteria



  1. Project proposal for LCI can be delivered exclusively by organizations which have the experience of working with youth in their activities.

  2. The LCI has to be conducted in the local community area in which the organization operates (the activity can also be extended to a wider area if agreed upon previously with the Institute).

  3. The project proposal has to be delivered by the end date in the manner indicated in this Call.

  4. The project proposal has to have a concrete and clear project goal and outcome.

  5. The project activities should begin no sooner than on May 15, 2016 and no later than on August 1, 2016.

  6. The Institute for Youth Development KULT can return an LCI project proposal for improvements if it is considered necessary to introduce certain changes/modifications.

  7. The LCI areas are:

  1. The Institute participates in the implementation of the project proposal with no more than 2,550.00 BAM per organization.

  2. The LCI includes at least 20 youth from the local community who are obliged to pass the UMiD online training during 2016.

  3. The total amount provided for the fees of experts hired during the LCI does not exceed 20% of the total amount of funds financed by the Institute.

  4. The budget cannot be used to finance the procurement of equipment.

  5. The budget includes a component intended for public promotion of the LCI which does not exceed 10% of the total project value.

  6. The promotion of project in all stages of implementation is conducted via social networks.

The 13th Module of UMiD Online Training is available to youth from Bosnia and Herzegovina. This Module focuses on reducing and fighting against discrimination. The course is based on the best practices of learning about the notion of discrimination and is adapted to youth who could and should become the actors of the process of reducing and fighting against discrimination. 


Diskrimination is a complex term that manifests in many forms. Getting to know different patterns, forms and consequences of discrimination is a time-consuming process. The course offers relevant initial information that provide guidelines for the continuation of this process.


The 13th Module was developed with the support of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The aim of UMiD Online training is to provide an opportunity for youth to use the latest online educational trends to develop skills of public presentation, build a constructive political dialogue with the authorities and influence on the increase of responsibility of the authorities towards youth. 


In this manner, youth will contribute to positive social changes and acquire experience in the decision-making process through involvement in democratic processes. After the training, the attendants will become youth leaders and represent a driving force of their local communities. 


 

A Public Call for delivering local civic initiatives proposals will be published soon. The Call is intended exclusively for youth organizations that were established and are working in accordance with the Youth Law, or the Law on Youth Organizing of RS.
