Representatives of the regional countries exchanged experiences of their countries in the area of volunteering at the conference entitled "Volunteering and Legal Framework - Good Practices and EU Standards" that was held in Podgorica on 16 and 17 December 2015. The aims of the conference were to agree system steps and regional partnerships that will be used to develop volunteerism in the countries of the region by using good practices from the European Union.

The conference was opened by Ms. Zorica Kovačević, the Minister of Labor and Social Care of Montenegro, who used her address to emphasize that volunteer work provides a priceless contribution to society since it is connected with active citizenship. She announced a development of a new law on volunteering in the beginning of the following year. "Volunteers acquire relevant experiences and knowledge required in the labor market, they build a network of contacts and are provided with a possibility to try in different social services, to learn how to make the right decisions, to solve problems, adapt to various cultures and demonstrate a sense of justice", stated Kovačević.

The conference was attended, from BiH, by representatives of the Ministry of Justice of BiH, the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of the RS, the Youth Communications Center (OKC) and by Amila Dedić, the representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT. Dedić discussed the experiences of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this area with particular reflection to the provisions and implementation of the Law on Volunteering of FBiH. "The law regulations are not the only instrument of public policies for encouraging the culture and practice of volunteering, and these goals can be achieved with other instruments of public policies. It is necessary to introduce, particularly youth, to the benefits of investing in the social development and using leisure time to develop the community in which they live. Education on volunteering under formal education, promoting volunteering through working with youth, coordinating the entity regulations, strengthening the capacities of the organisers of volunteering and infrastructure are the measures that should be implemented at all governmental levels in BiH" - stated Amila Dedić, representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT.

"Volunteering and Legal Framework - Good Practices and EU Standards" conference was organized by TASCO (Technical Assistance to Civil Sociaty Organizations) in Montenegro in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Care of the Government of Montenegro.
